Smith & Jones’ new single, Home, is a reflection of Abby and Sophie’s folk duo beginnings, and displays their deep understanding and love for the classic sounds and recording styles of early popular music.

In May 2021, Smith & Jones were asked to create a musical response to a visual art installation called Hardenvale, which is both a celebration and a farewell to the Australian suburban landscape of the previous mid-century. What followed was the creation of the track ‘Home’; a rootsy, acoustic guitar driven song (featuring upright bass by Jon Wilby), recorded completely live by long-time friend, collaborator and producer, Kris Schubert at The Boatshed in O’Connell in July 2021.

Lyrically, Home explores the gulf between the longing for stability and the desire for freedom, expressed in the classic two-part harmony, driving guitar playing and raw vocal expression that Smith & Jones have become known for.
